Do you have the right mindset?

Hello everybody,

I haven’t been able to put a word onto ‘paper’ lately. Simply because I don’t know what to write about. Is it called Writer’s Block? I’ve only just started my blog and there are literally a million things to write about. Where do I find the motivation to continue this journey to make a decent living for myself from the internet? Do I have the right mindset,  if you believe it, you can do it!

I think it happens to us all every once in a while. You hardly have the energy to do something creative and you lose your enthusiasm to do that one thing you were so excited about not so long ago whatever that thing may be. You feel emotionally drained and you are unable to explain to yourself and to others why you feel this way. You start to wonder if you will ever reach your goal. When you’re not motivated your commitment  is being tested. The same thing goes for your passion and your determination. You start to realize that, unless you get your motivation back, you won´t accomplish your goal. Motivation drives us all. It´s possible that your motivation has declined because you´re overwhelmed by all the information you get from so many different people. It’s hard to stick to your original plan. If that´s the case you will have to kick yourself and find ways to get back that enthusiasm you had when you started your business.

Here are a few ways to get your motivation back.

Spend time to focus on things that you are grateful for

Think about the positive things in your life

Think about the things you have achieved in the past

Realize how successful you already are by coming this far

Believe that you deserve success

Repeat the things you already know

Desire to make the world a better place with your contribution

`Whatever the mind can conceive and believe the mind can achieve.`

I started surfing the net to find some incentives for myself and I came across this remarkable man, Napoleon Hill, that you may have heard of but I had never heard of him. He wrote ´17 Principles of Success.´ And I would like to recommend to you to read his books or to watch his motivational video´s on Youtube. Here´s a link to Principle 7.

Napoleon Hill – Part 7. Positive Mental Attitude (Think and Grow Rich – Success Principles) – YouTube

Hopefully this will help you to get back on the right track.

Another great motivation is when people read your blog and are kind enough to leave a helpful comment.

`Remember, your strength grows out of your struggles.´Napoleon Hill.

Talk to you soon.

What is “Ad Swapping”? Another free way to build your list!

Hello again and welcome to my blog.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks over here. I’m almost done painting my living room, which hasn’t been easy with the RSI and some other physical problems but hey, no pain no gain. :-)

I already mentioned  in my last post that listbuilding can be done with many different methods. We talked about several free ways to send traffic to your blog. Now let’s talk about another FREE method.

Ad Swapping

Ad swapping has its origin in printed magazines. It was used by publishers to get more subscribers. They looked for magazines on the same or a similar subject and placed ads in eachothers magazines for no costs. With the introduction of Ezines it has become increasingly popular for Internet marketers to use Ad Swapping for building a list of subscribers/customers for their online business.

Ad swapping is becoming more and more popular. The reason for this is that it WORKS really well! It’s one of the best ways to build a list and it hardly takes any time to do.

Let me explain to you what Ad Swapping is. It’s very similar to a  joint venture where two people send an email to their list of subscribers to promote eachothers’ landing or squeeze page, where they usually offer a free gift and as a result of that both marketers will get quite a lot of subscribers to their lists.

It is considered to be one of the easiest and fastest ways to build a list.

Ad swapping is one of the fastest ways to build a list. You need to have about 500 to 1000 subscribers to be able to start doing this. It’s not difficult to find people to do an Ad Swap with. NEEDLES TO SAY THAT YOU LOOK FOR A PARTNER IN YOUR OWN NICHE.  Try places like The Warrior Forum or The Internet Marketing Forum. You can do Ad Swaps a few times a week.  If you can get 100 clicks from every email you send, you might get about 200 new subscribers each week. The bigger your list the more subscribers you will get. If your own list is not really that big yet I suggest you look for people who already have considerably more subscribers than yourself to push you up the ladder. You can use banners, RSS feed ads, text links, and email newsletter opt-in forms.

It’s a great way to get free advertising for your product and the same thing goes for your Ad Swap partner.

Be careful though, it can be tricky finding a trustworthy partner to Ad Swap with. Make sure that you know what offer he or she is going to ask you to send to your subscribers. After all, you want this ‘Joint Venture’ to gain you new subscribers and not to lose loyal ones. Set up a page for your Ad Swap partners’ product specifically and mention on your landing page that you have a special gift for your partners’ subscribers.

Ad Tracking

Since your Ad will be competing with thousands of others it’s is very important that you know which of your Ads are effective and which are not. There are several software programs that you can use for tracking down your Ads. The easiest methods are often the best!

Check your Blog

Check your blog regularly on where your traffic is coming from to see if it’s coming from the page where you placed your Ad or from social network sites like Facebook, Twitter etc. which means that your name is being mentioned by people there. Or from an email system, that will tell you that your newsletter Ad worked as you planned. Ask your Ad Swap partner to give you information on which of your links were clicked on. This is possible if your partner uses a leading auto responder like Aweber.

Split Testing

Do ‘Split Testing’, this is using more than one ad to find out which of your ads are working by using one of the methods I mentioned earlier. You can also use email addresses or phone numbers that are slightly different for each Ad.

If you have any questions, suggestions or recommendations please leave a comment.

Thanks you for reading my blog, until next time….

Happy Blogging !

What is “Article Marketing”?

Hello,

let me tell you about an another effective way to drive free traffic to your blog, namely

Article Marketing.

What is Article Marketing?

It’s an Internet Marketing tool that you should consider using as a way of promoting your blog or website.

You can use your own blog to find out what other people are interested in. Find out wich postings received the most comments, both positive and negative. This way you can find out exactly what your readers want to know and you can start with writing articles based on your most popular blogposts.

It’s a good idea to explore Article Directories like EzineArticles.com to look for inspiration to write your articles but DO NOT simply copy other people’s articles. The content of your article must be original otherwise it will probably not be published.

It’s okay to use existing articles and then add your own ideas and opinions. A popular phrase when it comes to Article marketing is “Content is Key’. This is true. Your article must give information that will make your reader predict the outcome. This will build trust with your reader because you make it seem that you’re able to read his or her mind. After reading your article people should be able to take action and solve their problem.

The language you use has to be lively and exciting. Keep it simple though, use words that the average person can understand. In an article the most effective word is YOU, make it look that you’re always on the side of the reader and that you are their advisor or mentor.

Sure, you want to write for Search Engines but writing for people should always have priority. It’s  no use to stuff your article with keywords but show no interest in the people who read it. Keywords and phrases should never break up the flow of the content.

Writing articles can be fun to do. Everybody can do it. If you want to learn how to do it right, learn from the  best. Study the master copy writers. Become a student by signing up to their newsletters. Writing articles is a very effective way to drive traffic to your blog.

Please note that articles should consist out of at least 400 words nowadays

It is very important to choose the right title for your article. Your readers should be able to find out by reading the first three or four words what your article is about.

For instance,

Buying a timeshare:  five tips for success

instead of

Five tips for success when buying a timeshare

The first one tells your readers straight away what they will get from your article. Follow the rules for writing good web articles. The most important information should be at the top. Keep sentences short and use subheadings. Make sure you promise what you deliver.

The Resource Box

This is where you get to sell your product or service. You put your name and your website in it, your elevator pitch and a call to action. An elevator pitch is a couple of sentences that explain what you have to offer.

When you finished your article, make a summary of two to five sentences that will immediately get the reader’s interest. This could very well be a repeat of the lead of your article. It should point out what your article is about and should invite the reader to want to read more. Also write something about yourself and what makes you an expert in the topic you write about. After that you’re pretty much ready to submit your article to an Article Directory.

There are literally hundreds of places where you can submit an article so it’s a bit difficult to choose one.
The best ones are:

EzineArticles

GoArticles

IdeaMarketers

There are also specific directories for each niche that might be a good option to submit your article to.

Well, that’s it for today people,
I wish all of you lots of success with writing your articles.

If you have any questions or suggestions about this blogpost please leave a comment.

Thanks,

Anna.

How to drive traffic to your blog

Hi everybody, it’s Anna again with new information on ‘how to’ build your online business.

I wonder if you’ve have ever heard of the expression “The Money is in The List”?  Well, with internet marketing this is literally the case.

To be able to make a success of your Internet Marketing business you need to drive traffic to your blog. Getting traffic is probably the most difficult part of your business.

People visiting your blog are your potential customers. You need people to subscribe to your blog. They do this by entering their name and email address. With this information you will be able to build a list for your business. In order to collect these email addresses you need to install an autoresponder. You can find dozens of autoresponder companies on the internet but I would like to suggest you use Aweber.

Aweber has a very good reputation for not allowing spam. And, what is very important, Internet Service Providers accept email send via Aweber. You can be sure that your mail will be delivered. This is one of the reasons  Aweber is highly recommended. (not just by me ;-) )

An Aweber subscription will cost you $19,95 each month. But for the first month it will cost you only $1,-.

It’s a bit complicated to set up an autoresponder but if you run into difficulties, there’s no need to panic because Aweber has a GREAT helpdesk. :-)

AWeber - Email Marketing Made Easy<<Click on the image to set up an account.
There’s also a video tutorial on my Youtube channel. I suggest you check it out.

If you want to build an email list as fast as possible , I know I want to ;)   you will have to drive a lot of targeted traffic to your blog. But you also have to make sure that this traffic is targeted to your niche because you don’t want to waste your precious time and money, do you?

There are easy ways and difficult or rather time consuming ways to drive traffic. There are free and cheap ways. And there are ways that cost money.

I advise you to use free traffic to start with. It can take a long time to build a responsive list of a decent size. You can always use paid traffic later when you’ve earned some money. But if you can afford it, go for it.

Let me tell you about  the FREE methods first.

Blog comments

A free way to drive traffic to your blog is by leaving comments on other people’s blogs, also known as  ‘Oil Rig Hopping’. Google for blogs on Internet Marketing with many subscribers. You can leave your URL behind in the appropriate box. This way your comment will be linked to your site. Make sure you leave behind a comment that is relative to that persons blogpost and that shows that you have read the article. If other readers are interested in your comment they might click on your URL and visit your blog. Check if the blogpost you comment on was written recently. It’s no use to comment on posts older than one or even two months.

Forum Marketing

By taking part in Forum discussions you can drive free traffic to your blog. There are forums that allow you to promote your squeezepage in your signature but not all forums allow this. Make sure you read a forum’s rules before you start posting. Use your real name or a pen name when you sign up for a forum. Try to make your posts as interesting as possible and add useful content for others to read. You want to come across as a professional marketer. When you’ve build that reputation for yourself, people will start to trust you and respect you and hopefully they will visit your squeezepage.

Joint ventures

When you have build a considerable list of subscribers, you can contact other people with a list of subsribers and ask them to take part in a Joint Venture.  This is a sort of partnership, a little bit like an affiliate program, where you work together with someone for mutual benefit. This means that you mail your list with their offer and they mail their list with your offer. I advise you to do some research before you take your chance with someone and ask for a copy of their offer to be sure they offer a quality product. Be aware of dishonest marketers!

Social Marketing

Another, very popular way of driving free traffic to your site is Social Marketing. It’s a very personal way to keep in touch with your customers. You can use for instance, Facebook and Twitter to funnel traffic to your squeezepage. You can build a list of friends and followers in your own tempo. And because this way of marketing is based on mutual permission, you don’t have to be worried about doing anything illegal.

Next time we’ll talk about more ways of driving traffic to your blog.

If you have questions or suggestions, please leave a comment.

Thank you and happy blogging,

Anna.

How to choose the right colour for your blog

Hi everybody, how are you today?

I’m doing well. I’m sitting in the morning sunshine. Later today I would like to do a bit of redecorating in my house so, lots of fun things planned for the day :-)

But first this.

Recently I came across a very interesting article on Colour Psychology and its effect on blog design.

As you probably already know, colours have meanings that cause or evoke  feelings in people’s subconscience. The way people think about your blog or website is effected by the colours you use.

It is however, very important to be aware of the fact that some colours can have a totally different meaning in certain parts of the world.

Seriously, before you choose the colour for your blog I advise you to go through the list of commonly execpted meanings of colours.

Yellow.

Yellow is the perfect choice when you need to express warmth and positivity. It’s also been proven in studies that yellow is the first colour that people notice. It’s the best choice to draw people’s attention to the most important parts of your website or blog. In Mexico yellow is a symbol of mourning.

Green.

Green is a colour that’s associated with health and freshness.  By seeing green (not with envy :-) ) people think of nature. Dark green is associated with money(!) In Indonesia green is a forbidden colour and in South American countries green is associated with death.

Brown

The colour brown can elicit feelings of durability. However, it can also be picked up as dirty. Be careful to use brown in your blog. In Nicaraqua brown represents disapproval.

Pink

It’s no surprise ofcourse that pink is associated with femininity. Bright pinks are considered exciting and linked to youth and enjoyment. If your blog is about subjects that mainly interest women then pink could be the the right colour.

White

According to colour psychologists, white is related to cleanliness and purity. It works very well as a background colour with a dark text. In Japan and other Far Eastern countries white it is a colour of mourning.

Black

Black communicates power. It’s said to be the perfect choice.  Black also conveys sophistication and expense.

Orange

Orange appears to be one of the less popular colours. But apparently it causes feelings of excitement and fun. (It’s my favourite colour :-D )

Red

Commonly, red is associated with anger and excitement. It is said that red causes a physical response when people see it. Tests show that red increases the heartbeat. Red is great for drawing attention to your blog. It is however also considered to be an aggressive colour. It might put certain people of.

Purple

Many people perceive purple as a creative colour. Apparently, men don’t seem to like purple very much. It’s closely linked to spirituality and royalty and it’s considered to be a sophisticated colour. In Brazil, purple is a colour of mourning.

Blue

Blue is very common in web design. It’s used by many web brands, such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn as the dominant colour.  Blue attracts both men and women. It evokes feelings of trust, calm and security. In Iran blue stands for immortality.

Here’s an interesting link.

Hopefully  this information is useful to you. If you have any questions or suggestions, please leave a comment below. I would love to hear your opinion on colours for blogs.

Happy Blogging!

How to earn money from Clickbank

Hello and welcome,

it’s another beautiful sunny morning where I am. I will be going out in the garden to do some work there and believe me, it’s really necessary. The grass has grown kneehigh, I almost need a scythe :-0.

Since I started this Internet Marketing business,  I can’t get any housework done.  But doing this is much more fun and far more challenging than housekeeping anyway.

Before I’ll start  gardening, let me explain CLICKBANK to you. That will leave you with a bit of studying for this coming weekend in case the weather where you are is not as nice as it is where I am.

Clickbank opened in 1999. It’s a site that makes it possible for people to start a career in online marketing. Today, thousands of people are using Clickbank and every day many, many more are joining.

Clickbank makes it possible for product owners to sell their products with the use of  ‘helpers’ called, affiliates.

These affiliates are registered with Clickbank to promote  a vendor’s product, such as, ebooks or software.

This is done by using  ‘hoplinks’. Each affiliate gets his or hers own unique sales code. Each time they sell a product via this code they are paid a sales commission.

Anyone can join clickbank. Once you have registered you can promote as many products as you like. It doesn’t matter which part of the world you live in.  Clickbank pays it’s customers twice a week  by sending a check to your address. Once you have registered you can promote as many products as you like.

Commissions often are as high as 50 % to 75% on the top products. They’re also offering  interesting pay outs.

There’s no need for you to buy any kind of software or to have writing talent to make money with Clickbank.

You don’t  need to have your own website either, although, having a simple website helps to increase your income.

With a simple website you can become an successful Clickbank affiliate.

To register with Clickbank click here

There is plenty of information on the Clickbank site itself to enable you to make a start. Like I said at the beginning, there’s no need for boredom this weekend :-) I also advice you to join the Clickbank Success Forum. (I haven’t even done that myself yet).:-) This site is run by two of the best-known internet marketers in the affiliate marketing industry. So, this forum provides you with  first class information. Go here for Clickbank Success Forum.

I advice you however, not to be tempted to spend money on products that promise you will be an instant millionaire without really having to do anything else but to click a few buttons. It simply can’t be done this way. (Just a warning)

All in all, making money from Clickbank is very straight forward. Al you have to do is choose a product to promote, advertise that product to a potential buyer. And if they buy the product you get paid a commission.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. You can leave a comment at the bottom of the page.

Success with Clickbank!

Happy Blogging.

How to install Google Analytics

Hi everbody, its 10 am where I am and I’m wide awake because instead of cocoa powder I emptied the pepperpot on my morning cappucino. :-D So I had to make a new one and now I’m sitting at my computer to teach you a bit more about Internet Marketing cause after all, that’s what you come here for, right?

Okay then!

I wonder, have you ever heard of Google Analytics? No? Then let me explain to you what it is.

Google Analytics is absolutely essential for your blog. It’s free and probably the best way to find out about:

people who visited your blog and when they visited your blog

where on your blog they have clicked

what item on your blog got the most clicks

the number of visitors your blog gets each day

how your visitors found out about your blog

they’re opninions of the content of your blog

how they came to visit your site

and lots and lots more …..

There’s a tutorial video about the installation of Google Analytics on my youtube channel that you can watch.

To create a Google Analytics account , click here

Mind you, you need a Gmail account for this.

Here are some tips for improving your WordPress blog.

I would like to advice you to create an about me page.

On this page you can tell your readers a little bit about yourself and maybe tell them the reason you started writing a  blog. Not that there has to be a special reason, ofcourse :-)

Create a contact me page

Here’s where your readers can leave you a message or ask questions.

Delete the hello world default blogpost

Add an affiliate disclosure page

Let your readers know that you make money by using affiliate links on your blog.

Install a premium theme

Free WordPress themes are difficult to maintain.  Click here for Premium WordPress themes

http://www.webuildyourblog.com/1219/these-premium-wordpress-themes/

Adjust your time zone under ‘General Settings’.

Having a gravatar helps to promote your blog. Your picture is shown wherever you leave a comment.

Click here to create a gravatar.

Install a header banner that was designed especially for you. It will cost you a bit of money but if you can afford it I advice you to do it. (I haven’t  had one made for my blog yet. I hope I’ll soon get round to do it, though.)

Start building your list by offering a free gift. Make sure your gift has some kind of quality.

Leave behind comments on other people’s blogs.

Try to add a new blogpost two or three times a week.  Believe me, that’s not so easy. I haven’t been able to do it sofar :-(

I’ll try to post more often but I also have a lot of studying to do :-) which is fun but very time consuming.

Till next time,

Happy Blogging!

Anna.

P.s. I made a very short video film the other day on The Zaanse Schans in my hometown, should you be interested.

SNC10195      it’s titled ‘Windmills’.

Blogging Platforms

Hello, I’m back. I took a ‘short’  holiday. I hope you guys don’t mind, but I really needed a break since the weather has been so beautiful lately after a very WET summer. I spent some time sightseeing my own country,

Holland, which is famous for its cheeses,

windmills, black and white cows, green wooden houses, and quite a few famous painters like Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Vermeer,  Mondriaan and lots, lots of other things.

But I shouldn’t do this too often cause after all, I myself told all of you that blogging regularly is very important for your, and our business!

This time I would like to talk to you about the Blogging Platforms, Keyword Search and how to get a Domain Name and Hosting for Your Blog.

There are many Blogging platforms that you can choose from. There are free ones and for the others you will have to pay a few dollars each month.

The free ones are okay for people who don’t want to make money with blogging and justwant to tell their story to the world. If you want to make money you simply must use a non-free blogging platform.

Here are a few reasons for not using free blogging software:

Most free blogging platforms do not allow you to advertise on your blog.

For free blogging platforms you need a lot more technical knowledge.

They provide very few options for changing the design of your blog.

You cannot add plugins with free software. And the list of plugins nowadays is endless. There are thousands of plugins that make your blog more functional and faster. You can add photo’s and video’s, you can’t do without anymore. It’s a much better idea to spend about $5 a month on WordPress.

There are two different versions of  WordPress.

The WordPress software from www.WordPress.com is free. They provide everything, domainname, hosting and the software but I do not recommend you use them.

I tell you why. If you use www.WordPress.com you do not own your blog!

This means that you are limited in what you can do with the software.

It’s better to use www.WordPress.org to build your blog. And there’s another important thing,

Google loves www.WordPress.org.!
Keyword Analysis.

The reason that the majority of people go on the internet is to look for information. They use Google, Bing or MSN.

The word or words that are  inserted in the searchbar are called a Keyword or Keyword Phrase.

Google keeps a Database of all the words people have entered for the past years and we can use that information to choose the best keywords for our chosen niche.

The Importance of Keyword Analysis.

If you use the correct phrases you have a much better chance that your website/blog will be on Google’s

first page. I will not dwell on how to find the best keywords for your niche. There’s plenty of  information

on that on the internet, so my advice to you is:  Google it! :-)

There are some helpful video tutorials on my Youtube channel. Go check them out!

Buying a Domain Name and Hosting.

By now you should have decided what your niche is going to be and you have chosen a Domain Name for it that you need to buy and make your own. It’s simplest to buy the Domain name and Hosting with the same company. The company does all the work for you and that makes things considerably easier.

My personal favorites are D9 and HostGator Hosting. They use Fantastico, which makes the technical stuff a lot easier. A basic hosting account will cost you between $5 and $10 a month, including your Domain Name. You only need a BASIC account for now.

If you need any help or have questions, don’t hesitate to drop me a note.

Also, if you would like to subsribe to my blog, which I would very much appreciate, I will surprise you with

A FREE GIFT!

Go for it, success is yours!

Happy Blogging.

Back soon,

Anna.

The Importance of having a NICHE.

Hello and welcome to my blog.

Today I would like to tell you about the importance of having a niche.
First of all a niche is a specialized subject.
If  for instance you would like your blog to be about food and diets then you should find a specific target like slimming or special diet food like food for diabetics or gluten free food.
Narrow it down as much as you can.
Also, blogging in a ‘smaller’ niche means you have less competition and that will be in your advantage.
How do you determine your niche?
First: ask yourself how much you know about the subject you want to write about.
Second: do research to find out if there is a demand for it.
If you are passionate about the subject you write about, you are in the position to better understand your customer/reader and you know what it is that your customer is interested in and what he or she is willing to buy.
Choose a niche that you are:

really interested in
know a lot about
your passionate about

If these three things apply to the  niche you choose it will be easy for you to write your blog content. It will also  make it easier  to understand  your customers wants and desires. You can make your blog unique even though there are many blogs in your niche.
You could also use your work experience for your blog or maybe you have a hobby, like decorating  or dog training, cooking, toys, antiques, or gardening that you are passionate about.

You’re hobby could make you a considerable income,  just think about that!

Most people are looking for answers online nowadays. If you want to make money with your blog you have to provide them with solutions for their problems.

One of the ways you can find out what sort of answers people are looking for is by joining forums.
Simply look for the forums in your chosen niche and register there.
First start reading and then take part in the conversations that are taking place and you’ll find out
you can learn a lot from these forums.
On www.technorati.com you can find forums/blogs dealing with your area of interest.

I hope this will help you get on your way.
If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Happy Blogging!

Have a nice day :)

What is the reason you want to blog?

Hello, and welcome again to my blog :-)

Now, to come straight to the point….

tell me, what is the reason you want to blog?

Is it because you want to make money?
Are you looking for a career in online marketing?
Do you want to be independent?

Make sure you know exactly what it is that you want.
Do you really want to give up your present job and start your own ($40.000, $50.000) business a year so that you can be at home with your children?
What do you see as the Perfect Lifestyle?
Wouldn’t it be great if you would be able to find the perfect balance in work and family and still have
fun doing your daily work?
I have to be honest with you. Blogging is NOT going to make you rich in a short time.
If that’s what you expected, then you’re mistaken.:-(
But can you make money with blogging?  YES, you can!
But it will take months of hard work and many, many hours sitting at your computer.
If you’re willing to do that,  it will improve your chances of succes and ultimately,  freedom.
Now, let’s just say that you’re willing to do all that, you first have to choose a niche, this is the subject
you’re going to build you’re business around. In  my blog this subject (niche) is internet marketing.
But you have to understand that thousands of people already have a blog in this niche and that there is a LOT
of competition. You could, ofcourse, choose another niche for your blog. Something like, weightloss, health, diets, dog
training, cars, real estate, green energy, etcetera, etcetera. The possibilities are unlimited.
Just make sure that you know what you’re talking about. If you don’t know a lot about the niche that you choose for your
business then you have to do a lot of research!

Now, I  already told you in my first blog post, that blogging is new for me and  that I hardly know anything about internet
marketing . But I’m lucky to have Marc Milburn as my mentor.
And he is going to teach me all the ins and outs of making money online.

On my Youtube channel you can watch a number of video tutorials that will help you start up you’re online business. Please start with watching the first tutorial.
Let me know if they are  useful to you. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Happy blogging!

Anna.
